In the health field, there are accidents with sharp or sharp objects that may be contaminated by fluids or blood, which can lead to an increased probability that the healthcare worker will become ill or die as a result of a transmitted pathogen. Likewise, studies carried out by the WHO in the 2017 annual occupational health report show results that on average 385,000 injuries are caused by sharp or cutting instruments and that nursing staff are the most exposed to this type of accidents between 9 to 11 %. that are closely related to different personal and institutional factors. The present study was carried out on the staff of the Surgical Center of the María Auxiliadora Hospital in order to determine the personal factors and institutional factors that influence sharps accidents in nurses of the surgical center of the hospital mentioned above and thus provide recommendations and/or respective suggestions for improving the intervention processes for sharp accidents that occur in the surgical room.
Resumen
En el ámbito de la salud existen accidentes con objetos cortantes o punzantes que pueden estar contaminados por fluidos o sangre, lo que puede conllevar a que se incremente la probabilidad que el trabajador asistencial enferme o presente deceso a consecuencia de algún patógeno transmitido. Asimismo, estudios realizados por la OMS en el reporte anual de salud ocupacional del 2017 arrojan resultados que en promedio 385.000 lesiones son provocadas por instrumentos punzantes o cortantes y que el personal de enfermería es el más expuesto a este tipo de accidentes entre un 9 a 11%. que están muy relacionados a diferentes factores personales e institucionales. El presente estudio se realizó al personal de Centro Quirúrgico del Hospital María Auxiliadora para poder determinar los factores personales y factores institucionales que influyen en los accidentes punzocortantes en enfermeros(as) del centro quirúrgico del nosocomio mencionado líneas arriba y así brindar las recomendaciones y/o sugerencias respectivas para la mejora de los procesos de intervención accidentes punzocortantes que se presentan en la sala quirúrgica.
