Efficacy of using ultrasound guidance in catheter placement in patients with difficult vascular access

Objective: Systematize the evidence on the effectiveness of the use of ultrasound guidance in the placement of catheters in patients with difficult vascular disease. Materials and Methods: The type and design of the study was quantitative and systematic review respectively, 10 scientific articles made up the population and sample, of 100%, 10% correspond to Spain, 10% correspond to France, 10% London England, 10% Ireland, 30% USA, 10% Great Britain, 10% Canada and 10% Japan. The systematic review of the 10 scientific articles of which according to the type of research design, 10% (n=1/10) are randomized trials, 80% (n=8/10) are a systematic review and meta-analysis, and 10 % (n=1/10) are randomized studies. Results We found in 100% (10/10) of the studies that the use of ultrasound guidance in the placement of catheters in patients with difficult vascular access was effective in older adult patients, children, oncology patients, and diabetic patients who undergo dialysis. Conclusions: 10 of the 10 evidence concluded that the use of ultrasound in the placement of peripheral catheters is effective, because it has significant beneficial effects, being successful on the first attempt, reducing the risk of arterial puncture and hematomas, reducing complications.
Resumen
Objetivo: Sistematizar las evidencias sobre la eficacia del uso de guía ultrasonido en la colocación de catéteres en pacientes con difícil vascular. Materiales y Métodos: El tipo y diseño de estudio fue cuantitativo y revisión sistemática respectivamente, 10 artículos científicos conformaron la población y muestra, del 100%, el 10% corresponden a España, el 10% corresponde a Francia, el 10% Londres Inglaterra, el10% Irlanda, 30% EE. UU, el 10% gran Bretaña, el 10%canada y el10% a Japón. La revisión sistemática de los 10 artículos científicos de los cuales según tipo de diseño de investigación el 10% (n=1/10) son ensayos aleatorizados, el 80%(n=8/10) es revisión sistemática y metaanálisis, y el 10% (n=1/10) son estudios aleatorizado. Resultados Encontramos en el 100% (10/10) de los estudios que el uso del guía ultrasonido en la colocación de catéteres en pacientes con difícil acceso vascular fue eficaz en aquellos pacientes adultos mayores, niños, pacientes oncológicos, pacientes diabéticos que se dializan. Conclusiones: 10 de las 10 evidencias se concluyó al uso ecografía de ultrasonido en la colocación de catéteres periféricos son eficaces, debido a que tiene efectos beneficios significativos, teniendo éxito en el primer intento, reduciendo el riesgo de punción arterial y hematomas disminuyendo las complicaciones.
